Health Testing for Chinese Cresteds
Breeders of the Chinese Crested face several health issues that are common in the breed. Scientific progress and testing is improving constantly and a number of health tests now exist that did not when we began our breeding program. Through utilizing the tests and programs that are readily at hand to breeders, Cresteds and their owners will face fewer health issues in the future.
We believe that dogs used in a breeding program should be tested for the following health issues:
Eye Clearance evaluated by CERF
Patellar Luxation evaluated by OFA
Cardiac Testing evaluated by OFA
Primary Lens Luxation DNA testing by OFA
Progressive Retinal Atrophy DNA testing by Optigen
Congenital Deafness evaluated by BAER
Legg -Calve Perthes evaluated by OFA
